Lots to Share and Show

The drop of rain which fell early this morning seemed to bring a good crowd out to the Wednesday social morning and there's was a lot to share and show at the meeting, some of it quite unusual. If you weren't one of the lucky folk to touch and feel, you can still see a lot of the items by clicking on the altered book above.
If you'd like to ask any questions about the items or comment please do so by clicking on 'comments' below this post. Then follow the prompts. It's easiest to select 'anonymous' if you're not sure how to sign yourself. Leave your first name at the end of your message and I'll know who you are.

Flying Fingers!

Janet B's workshop this afternoon was very enthusiastically attended by lots of busy hands.
Give a Bookie a piece of paper and a cd and with flying fingers snipping, folding and glueing, under Janet's watchful guidance, and they'll transform it into an intricate little fanned book before you know it. (For a closer look click on the above collage.)

Wednesday, 14th October.

A member of the city council came to our meeting to put our aspirations for relocating into his perspective. Thanks to the ability of Margaret D and Nita O'B, who have untold levels of frustration tolerance, I don't think he was totally successful in blighting our enthusiasm.
Show and Tell was consequently very late but welcome light relief! For more photos click on Annette S's merriment above.

Rust Bath Workshop

Today a large group of Fibres Folk met at Barb's for a workshop on rusting a variety of papers, lace and cloth in the rust baths which Barb prepared. A tannic solution, caustic soda solution and iron solution. We all dipped and dripped and lay our bits of paper on the lawn with branches over them to stop them blowing away in the wind - and watched the magic happen. It was a lot of fun and the results were very rewarding.
For more pictures click on the above photo of some of Annette S's finished papers. Thank you for taking photos Annette. Don't we all look so glam in our oldest work clothes?
A huge thank you to Barb for all her hard work and for once again hosting a workshop at her home.
