Christmas Craft Fair

Over the weekend Fibres & Fabrics had their annual Christmas Craft Fair.  It was a great weekend, with lots of chatting, eating and buying.  While numbers of visiting public were down a bit, given the economic climate that's to be expected.  Regardless, a good weekend was had by all so I've heard (perhaps nobody was game to say otherwise!)  I'll let the photos speak for themselves.  Just a note, the photos were taken early on Sunday morning before opening for the public.

Embroidery Christmas lunch

We did our annual swap of Xmas decoration, this year was a specific shape, but your choice of embroidery, here are the six that were swapped. Clockwise starting top red one: Joan R, Judy S, Barb H, Arlene W, Lyn H, and Suzanne C.

Had a wonderful day at Jessica's, eating and sharing past lunches.  Here we all are

L-R, Joan R, Judy S, Suzanne C, Barb N, Lyn H, and Jessica W., and off course (me, taking the picture).

We have set our decoration for next year’s luncheon, it will be an Angel, and I will have patterns for her during the next few weeks. The top of our Angel can be any embroidery technique you wish, but her skirt is to be beaded.

The one on the right is one I made several years ago, and the one on the left is one I just made, she's a 'stumpwork Angle'.
We also set a swap for Fibres members next year, so to find out, become a member and join in.

Morning tea fundraiser for cancer

Hi, we had a special morning tea on Wednesday 26th, raising money for cancer.  Participants were asked to make a teacosy from an old hat, while there weren't that many teacosies, those that were there were wonderful.  Well done to those that participated.

Enjoy the photos below of the morning, the show and tell that followed, the ATC swap and the special visitor we had!

Onions, Tea, Bleach, Rust and Vinegar!

At Creative Arts last Friday Annette led a workshop on using onion skins to dye fabric with variations when using egg, tea and rust combinations. Marion led a workshop on using bleach to make imprints on cloth. Both gave the participants a lot of fun and the observers enjoyed watching the processes in action.

Magnetic Island Crafters visit and show and tell

We had our annual visit with the Magnetic Island Craft group yesterday, this year it was their turn to come over the sea to visit us.  Magnetic Island is a 20 minute boat ride away from Townsville and a wonderful tropical island to visit and spend time on.  It is home to a very active craft group that support a number of charities throughout the year.

A wonderful day was enjoyed by all of us, Possum Hollow was buzzing with chat and activity from the moment the ladies arrived to the itme they all had to run to catch the ferry home.  We all left with our bellies full of wonderful food and our heads full of inspiration.
